How BrightSpeaker supports classroom practice
Filler-word coaching
The live counter catches "um," "uh," "like," and "you know" as students speak. Over a few sessions, the pause habit starts to stick.
Face in frame
On-device camera analysis checks that a student's face is centered and at a good distance, with a friendly nudge when they drift out of frame. It doesn't track where their eyes are looking. The video itself never leaves the Chromebook.
60-second reps
Students pick a prompt and speak for one minute. Short enough to fit in a warm-up, long enough to build real speaking stamina.
Pilot evidence
Today: a local browser report on the practice device, plus a counts-only summary the teacher can choose to share at day 30. Not a live grading system.
Speaking standards
Prompts are designed around speaking standards SL.4 and SL.6: presenting ideas and speaking clearly for the task.
Private by design
Scores stay in this browser on this device. The words are kept only if a student turns on ‘Save my words’, and then only on this device for 30 days. We don't receive either. Video never leaves the device. Spoken audio goes to the browser's speech service (Google, Microsoft or Apple, depending on the browser) to make the live transcript. No ads, no reselling, no surprise data flows.
